** What You Will Do*
* The Los Alamos National Laboratory Research Library ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) seeks a Software Development post-Bachelors Student to help imagine, create, and sustain its digital services. We support the Laboratory's paramount mission to solve national security challenges through scientific excellence by delivering essential knowledge services. The durable value of these services depends on a foundation of effective and efficient software infrastructure. This position will work on a variety of projects supporting the management, curation, discovery, dissemination, and preservation of institutional scientific content.
Reporting to the Team Leader for Institutional Scientific Content (ISC), this developer will join an experienced group of software developers, library professionals, project managers, and system administrators. We offer a creative setting in which information technologies and services are applied to scientific productivity. We aggressively pursue new ideas, services, products, and approaches to satisfy research needs. The successful candidate should be a versatile individual who works collaboratively, embraces learning, and has a strong user focus.
** Core Responsibilities*
* + Uses software development methodologies, tools, and processes, including source code control and database design, to build applications to meet technical and functional requirements.
+ Work with team members and stakeholders to evaluate system needs, participate in project planning, and deploy effective software solutions in an Agile framework.
+ Collaborate and communicate across domains, program areas, and Laboratory groups to better support critical Laboratory infrastructure and workflows.
** What You Need*

Job Requirements:
*
* + Understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and processes, including source code control and team collaboration tools.
+ Demonstrated experience with programming, scripting, and markup languages such as PHP, Python, or Java.
+ Knowledge of database systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
+ Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other modern web development tools.
+ Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
+ Ability to learn and apply new technologies and processes. An openness to suggesting and adopting new approaches to improve work effectiveness and efficiency.
** Desired
Qualifications:

* + Knowledge of modern web application frameworks.
+ Knowledge of web services and REST APIs.
+ Knowledge of database ORM frameworks.
+ Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and/or unstructured data.
** Education*
* + Must have earned a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or international equivalent) within the last 3 years in an appropriate field (Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, etc.)
+ Must have graduated with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

** The work location for this position is hybrid. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
** Work Schedule*

This position is located in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be regularly required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice. Some interns may work a 9/80 schedule at the discretion of management and in accordance with the Student Programs Office guidebook.
