AboutThe Role
CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) who can sit in either our Phoenix, AZ or Los Angeles/Century City, CA offices. This role will support our growing Family Office practice. Our CAAS practice helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.
Asa Controller, You Will
- Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions
- Experience dealing with our growing Family Office Practice servicing high net worth individuals and families
- Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
- Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process
- Adhere to the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
- Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers
- Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable
- Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client’s leadership
- Develop budgets, analyze variances and implement corrective actions as needed
- Review payroll and payroll tax compliance
- A BS degree in accounting or related field required
- 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required
- Accounting back office experience is required
- Relevant experience with high net worth individuals, multiple entity and personal business management preferred
- Experience with trusts highly preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred but not required
- CPA certification is preferred but not required
- Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems;
Quick Books experience is preferred - Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc)
