Position Summary

Brilliant Corners is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to lead and support a team of Staff Accountants in Accounts Payable. This role is critical to ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial operations across the organization. The Senior Accountant will oversee daily transactional accounting, high-volume accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

This position will work cross-functionally with program, finance, and operations teams to support organizational objectives while developing strong internal controls and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Staff Accountants, including workflow management, training, and performance evaluations
  • Oversee and review high-volume accounts payable processing, ensuring invoices are properly approved, coded, and paid accurately and on time (checks, ACH, and wires)
  • Maintain oversight of vendor setup, W-9 collection, and resolution of discrepancies in coordination with internal departments and vendors
  • Manage daily and monthly financial operations, including rent roll processing, bank reconciliations, and accruals
  • Lead and coordinate monthly and year-end close processes and support external audit and 1099 preparation
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit regulations, and funder/donor reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with program teams and Finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and funder reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations and strengthen internal controls
  • Utilize and help optimize systems including Sage Intacct (ERP), Paycom (HR/payroll), Lattice (performance management), and Salesforce (program tracking)
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1‑2 years in a supervisory role
  • Experience in nonprofit or housing sectors strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit compliance standards
  • Hands‑on experience with Sage Intacct
    , Salesforce
    , Paycom
    , and Lattice
    , or similar platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners
Work Environment & Schedule
  • This position is in‑office at the discretion of leadership and may require up to five days per week onsite
  • Occasional driving may be required for check distribution or other duties (valid driver's license required)
