We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Corporate Tax Accountant to join our tax team. This role is responsible for managing compliance and reporting federal, state, and local tax obligations, including income, sales/use, excise, and property taxes. The ideal candidate will support tax planning, provision, audits, and process improvements to ensure compliance and optimize the company's tax position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist tax preparers in preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns
- Conduct tax research and analyze the impact of changing tax laws
- Maintain accurate tax work papers and reconciliations of tax accounts
- Support federal and state tax audits and respond to information requests
- Prepare and file sales/use and excise tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate remittances across multiple jurisdictions
- Oversee personal property tax filings, including data gathering and assessments review
- Reconcile related general ledger accounts and assist with accruals for SALT liabilities
- Research taxability of new products/services and maintain tax matrices for sales/use compliance
- Maintain exemption certificates and support internal teams with SALT questions
- Performs work under direct supervision.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

- Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives assigned by supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Legal, Operations)
- Assist with the implementation of process improvements and automation for tax workflows
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and assess their impact on the company's tax posture

Technical Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of federal and multistate tax laws
- Experience with sales/use, excise, or property tax compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax software (e.g., One Source, Avalara, Vertex, Corptax)
- Experience with ASC 740
- Familiarity with ERP systems
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 2+ years of experience in corporate tax (public accounting or industry)
- CPA certification or working toward CPA (preferred)
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 15 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
- Ability to get in and out of the vehicle and walk up and down stairs during your shift.
- Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat, and twist.
