Overview

Market Development SpecialistK&L Gates

We are seeking a Market Development Specialist to support and execute marketing and business development programs for firmwide practice areas, industry groups and/or offices. The role involves significant interaction with lawyers, office and practice managers, and firm administration. The candidate should have strong written and oral communication, project management skills, and the ability to implement strategic directives and coordinate marketing functions from concept to delivery.

Duties
  • Assist practice groups and individual lawyers with development and implementation of marketing, business and client development projects; provide general marketing support to practice groups.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for production and assembly of customized marketing packages and promotional materials.
  • Create and deliver client-focused proposals, qualifications and presentation materials in response to RFPs and other opportunities for new business.
  • Draft, edit and proof marketing collateral, slide decks, letters, event invitations, and lawyer biographies.
  • Serve as liaison to lawyers and secretaries to build, maintain and regularly update practice group contact lists in the firm’s CRM database.
  • Create and maintain experience lists for practice areas and lawyer activities.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed competitive intelligence and marketing research reports; develop qualified prospect lists for marketing/client development initiatives as applicable.
  • Coordinate the development of articles, newsletters, electronic news alerts and other marketing communications materials.
  • Coordinate practice/industry group/office events, including mailing list management, collateral production, logistics planning and on-site support; assist in planning processes and follow-up business development activities.
  • Assist in tracking information related to business development activities in the firm’s proposal tracking system.
  • Support office and practice public relations activities.
  • Coordinate practice group membership/renewals in various trade and related organizations.
  • Secure reprint permissions and stock for use in future marketing efforts.
  • Participate as a member of the firmwide marketing team and execute firmwide initiatives; participate in special projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Development Coordinators and oversee assigned tasks; undertake other projects as assigned.
  • Participation in outside conferences and seminars, and hold a membership in trade associations.
Experience & Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write and produce compelling proposals, collateral, research reports and client-facing presentation materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated service orientation.
  • High level of maturity and confidence to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet research tools; knowledge of Inter Action CRM software is a plus.
  • Good judgment, decision-making and follow-through capabilities; ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility and creativity; team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Abilities
  • Mobility within the office; ability to move between floors.
  • Ability to manage and communicate confidential issues.
  • Office-based role; may require routine use of a computer, filing, lifting and other standard office activities.
Compensation

Salary $94,000 - $154,000. Compensation will be determined during the interview process and vary based on experience, expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
