Position Overview
Electrical / IT Inspector – Los Angeles, CA. Civil Authority oversight on electrical construction as part of LAWA Capital Improvement Program. Responsible for supporting the QA & Construction Inspection Division in inspecting building and terminal construction projects.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years experience with airfield lighting on the Airfield (if applicable).
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification.
- NFPA 70E training within last 3 years.
- Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within last 4 years.
- LAWA SIDA badge.
- 3+ years electrical/IT inspection for building construction.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, 72, fall protection, and project management software (Office, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Computer proficiency for reviewing contract documents.
- Availability to work various shifts and overtime.
- Electrical installation and repair in public works, institutional, commercial, or industrial settings.
- Experience overseeing compliance with building codes on significant construction.
- Coordination with contractors, engineers, and city officials.
- Strong understanding of diverse code requirements.
- Excellent communication and time management.
- Willingness to learn agency requisites.
- Conduct daily inspections of electrical and IT systems on building and terminal construction projects.
- Review and interpret construction documents, including blueprints, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting all observed activities.
- Verify contractor compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, 70E, 72, and LAWA standards.
- Track and document time‑and‑material work, field changes, and job quantities.
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests.
- Support special inspections and testing coordination with engineers, contractors, and third parties.
- Inspect underground utilities, high‑voltage switch gear, conduit racks, lighting systems, and fire life safety systems.
- Safely conduct lockout/tagout and breaker coordination.
- Low‑voltage systems: voice/data, security, access control.
- Door card readers, security cameras, and public address systems.
- Communication cabling and equipment rooms.
