Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, Golf Now, Golf Pass, and Sports Engine. The well‑capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure‑play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content.
The spin‑off is expected to be completed during 2025.
We are looking for a DGA Director to join the Operations team in Los Angeles, supporting NBC4 & T52. As a Director, you will be primarily responsible for directing and operating live and recorded television news productions using the Ross Overdrive Automated Production Control system. Job Responsibilities- Work with editorial and production personnel to code and execute newscasts using production automation.
- Build master rundown patterns for all television broadcasts.
- Shape overall creative appearance of the broadcasts using video, audio and graphics effects.
- Give direction and timing cues to talent and other technicians working on broadcasts.
- Ensure execution in alignment with standard operating procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Required onsite. This position is required to be performed full time onsite from an NBCUniversal designated work site.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, journalism, engineering, radio, television & film, operations, media production, related fields or equivalent experience.
- This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Company and the Directors Guild of America (DGA). Successful candidate will be required to join the DGA if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that Guild.
- Experience directing and operating television production systems for mid to major market news or live events.
- Expertise with the Ross Overdrive Production Automation, including coding and preparation of rundowns, automation of video switchers, audio mixers, camera robotics, graphic systems and prompters.
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to troubleshoot and work around operational issues.
- Experience working under pressure in breaking news situations while being a calm leader in the control room.
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others.
- Bi‑lingual (English & Spanish) a plus
