Interior Designer – Mithun

We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on, and collaborative interior design leader with 10+ years of experience to join Mithun. As the first Interior Designer based in our Los Angeles office, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape and grow our local interiors practice—bringing design vision, leadership, and mentorship as the team expands. You’ll engage in all phases of design, collaborating with our Los Angeles design team and interior design colleagues in San Francisco and Seattle to create thoughtful, innovative environments that connect people to place through intentional and memorable experiences.

You will work on a variety of project typologies spanning workplace, hospitality, cultural (museums and public engagement), educational (K–12, higher education, and student life), and housing (urban multi‑family, affordable, and student).

We currently collaborate in the office Monday through Thursday. Fridays can be in‑office or WFH for most roles.

• Lead interior design efforts across project types, practicing a concept‑based and collaborative design approach.
• Partner with designers across disciplines to deliver integrated, high‑performance design solutions.
• Serve as a design and client interface, helping to build and maintain lasting client relationships.
• Produce and oversee concept imagery, diagrams, sketches, space plans, FF&E selections, and presentation documentation.
• Participate in business development and marketing efforts, representing Mithun in the Los Angeles market and helping expand our regional presence.
• Manage and mentor other designers, supporting their professional growth.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure design excellence, quality, and budget alignment.
• Contribute to Mithun’s mission of Design for Positive Change, including sustainability and JEDI initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in Interior Architecture/Interior Design for commercial spaces.
• Proficient in creating compelling graphics and presentations, with a strong ability to balance creative execution and project coordination.
• Proven experience working closely with clients and building client relationships.
• Experience mentoring and supporting junior team members.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability, with an understanding of sustainable design concepts and their application.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of market design trends and best practices.
• Comfortable and effective working within collaborative, hybrid, and remote team environments.
• Active participation in Los Angeles–area professional organizations.
• Proficiency in Revit and the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Certification as an Interior Designer or Registered Architect is a plus.

We offer eight paid holidays, vacation accrual of two weeks per year, sick time accrual, and paid volunteer time. Flexible Spending Accounts or Health Savings Accounts are available based on eligibility requirements. The expected range of compensation for this role is $113,000 – 125,000 per year.

Actual pay rates are based on experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
