Position descriptionThe Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine has openings for fellowship positions in gastrointestinal/liver pathology for the academic year of 2026‑2027. This is a one‑year fellowship, during which the importance of clinicopathological interaction for optimal diagnostic interpretation is stressed.
The program historically has had a well‑defined core of responsibilities outlined for the fellow and has also allowed considerable flexibility for the fellow to develop clinical and academic skills important for career development. Core responsibilities include preparing cases of GI, liver and pancreaticobiliary diseases for a core of surgical pathology faculty with subspecialty expertise, independent signing‑out under close supervision, and presenting at various clinical conferences.
Research activities are strongly encouraged.

QualificationsBasic qualifications
- Three years of training in anatomic pathology or four years combined anatomic and clinical pathology.
- Applicants must possess a license to practice medicine in California at the beginning of their fellowship.
