Position Title: Part-time Temporary Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a temporary lecturer pool for the 2025‑2026 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed each semester.

Responsibilities: Instruction, class preparation, grading, office hours, and other duties as assigned. Faculty will teach existing mechanical engineering courses and/or labs under guidance of full‑time faculty coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with substantial teaching experience (lower division) or Master’s degree (upper division) or Doctoral/Master’s with substantial experience (graduate courses).
  • Demonstrated excellence at the college level.
  • Proficiency in written and oral English.
  • Ability to work in a multi‑ethnic, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Relevant work experience and training.
  • Expertise in thermofluids, solid mechanics, material sciences, experimental methods, numerical/computational methods, or robotics.

Duties: Instruction, course preparation, grading, office hours. Course assignments and modalities determined by the Department Chair.

Compensation:

  • Lecturer A/2: $5,507 – $6,677/month
  • Lecturer B/3: $6,221 – $13,224/month
  • Lecturer C/4: $6,825 – $14,523/month
  • Lecturer D/5: $8,593 – $15,211/month

The anticipated hiring range is at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, usually Lecturer A or

B.
