Role Summary

As a Biology Teacher you will instructionally lead a cohort of scholars toward college‑ready standards, integrating local and global phenomena, and employing NGSS‑aligned curricula such as Amplify Science and Discovery Techbook. You will partner with science teams, coaches, and district leaders to support each student’s learning journey.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a positive, achievement‑oriented classroom that motivates scholars to learn at college‑prep levels.
  • Plan, execute, and adjust curriculum to meet rigorous standards (Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, etc.), ensuring equitable access for all scholars.
  • Collect and respond to feedback from coaches, peers, and leaders to continuously refine instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit required school documentation.

  • Adhere to policy on lesson‑plan submission, unit‑plan completion, and re‑teaching strategies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active California teacher certification in Biology (Clear or Preliminary) and valid English Learner Authorization by August 1st.
  • Credential requirements:
    • California Single or Multiple Subject Credential (Clear or Preliminary).
    • Multiple Subject Credential with Biology Authorization.
    • California University Internship Credential Eligible (intern eligibility letter required).
    • Proof of credential in progress (University email acceptable).
    • Non‑California credential transferable to California (proven in progress).
  • Applicants lacking a single‑subject credential or not on a path to obtain one are ineligible.
  • Consider the Alliance Teacher Residency Program for credential acquisition (one‑year partnership with Marshall).
