The Opportunity

CNCA seeks teachers committed to serving in under‑resourced communities. Ideal candidates embrace research‑based, innovative curricular frameworks such as balanced literacy and concept‑based math. Teachers must be visionaries, eager to lead in educational practices, and able to demonstrate that public education in a low‑income, primarily immigrant, multilingual community can succeed. Responsibilities
  • Aspire to excellence across all areas specified by the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and CNCA growth tools.
  • Provide written professional lesson plans aligned with state content standards and CNCA expectations, including year‑long pacing plans submitted no later than October 1. Include accommodations for IEPs, 504 Plans, multilingual learning needs, and RTI considerations.
  • Deliver whole‑group lessons and provide individual or small‑group instruction as specified in students’ IEPs. For alternate‑curriculum students, deliver modified curriculum aligned with IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with parents, administrators, related service providers, and colleagues to design and implement accommodations and modifications per FAPE Part 1 and related plans.
  • Create engaging curricula that move all students toward meeting California State Standards and clear, written success criteria.
  • Maintain consistent, meaningful communication with parents and employ a variety of strategies to promote academic success for all students.
  • Develop and implement a coherent classroom discipline plan, documenting interventions prior to referring a student out of class. Include accommodations in line with IEP or 504 documents.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, coursework, and assessment records; submit report cards and school‑wide assessment reports on time. Update weekly special‑education service records as required.
  • Drive personal professional growth; evidence of growth informs evaluation within a year‑long goal framework.
