About the DepartmentThe Department of Finance, Financial Planning, and Insurance offers a B.S. with specializations in Financial Analysis, Financial Planning, and Risk Management and Insurance, and an MBA. The department serves close to 1,000 students and supports student engagement through initiatives and organizations such as the FMA-CSUN chapter. It includes student-centered investment funds managed by undergraduates. The department comprises 11 full-time tenure-track faculty, with active research and access to research databases and teaching resources.

The Department of Finance, Financial Planning and Insurance at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking two tenure-track faculty members in Finance at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach Finance courses and have research interests in Finance and related fields. The position requires an ongoing program of scholarship in finance and maintaining the criterion for "Scholarly Academic" under AACSB accreditation requirements.
In addition to teaching and research, the position requires weekly office hours, attendance at faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will help the department achieve equitable academic outcomes through teaching, mentorship, scholarship, and service.
- Ph.D. in Finance, Financial Economics, or related fields from an accredited institution
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, conducting and publishing original research on finance
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in university-level teaching (in-person and online) in areas such as investment, corporate finance, and finance electives
- Evidence of, or clear potential for, impactful research in Finance
- Evidence of effective engagement or potential to engage with a diverse student body
