Job Description

The Los Angeles Film School is currently seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join its Student Support Services team. Student Support Services play a vital role in the success of students and the institution as a whole. This position actively supports students’ wellbeing and personal growth, helping them develop the confidence and resilience needed to thrive in their educational journey. It also supports the institution’s campus and remote student population with accessibility needs and reports to the Student Support Services Manager.

This is a non-faculty position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Wellness & ADA Coordinator will support the Student Support Services Manager with:

  • Community Building
  • Resources for students (wellness, housing, financial, etc.)
  • Staff and Faculty Trainings – Accessibility, Inclusive teaching practices, mental health awareness
  • Student workshops
  • Student Interest Surveys
  • Promote Restorative Practices in all aspects of LAFS
  • Collaborate on developing, promoting, and facilitating campus wide wellness and accessibility initiatives
  • Attend campus and online events to support students and build relationships
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all student-facing departments
Behavioral Concerns and Conduct Management Support
  • Campus and online student behavior management – support implementation of protocols for responding to non-conduct related crises and concerns to ensure students receive appropriate support and resources.
  • Conduct Office support – collaborates with Conduct Officer to conduct surveys aimed at gathering feedback on the conduct process.
  • Assess sources of conflict / mental health crisis within LAFS.
  • In collaboration with BCAT, develop strategies to resolve the recurring sources of crisis mismanagement and dissatisfaction.
  • Share conflict resolution skills throughout departments.
Individual Support and Case-Management
  • Provide conflict resolution tools, assistance and guidance on overcoming issues related to housing, transportation, mental and physical wellness, and behavioral concerns.
  • Create individualized support, wellness and safety plans which could include advisement on stress management, mental and physical wellness, and other student success skills and strategies.
  • Provide students with available internal and external resources to aid with their success.
Accessibility and ADA Compliance Services
  • Provide guidance and services to students with a qualifying disability.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake interviews with applicants for accessibility services.
  • Review supporting documentation to determine eligibility for accommodations and accessibility services.
  • Determine students' functional limitations in a college setting and approve appropriate accommodations.
  • Act as a resource for faculty and staff in the provision of services.
  • Maintain files and a database of disabilities and accommodations in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Other duties as assigned Non-Essential

Education | Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Prior experience in student support services or other student services related department at the postsecondary level preferred.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is required.

Computer Skills
  • Proficiency with PC and Mac (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote).
  • Ability to learn new programs as required, etc.

  • Must be able to sit and operate a computer
