DescriptionDevelops and implements a standards‑aligned Spanish Language Arts curriculum
- Promotes a classroom environment that is conducive to individualized and/or small‑group instruction and student learning
- Develops standards‑aligned lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction
- Designs learning activities to demonstrate the relevance of Spanish Language Arts to everyday life, with a particular focus on developing habits of mind that are transferrable beyond Spanish class
- Conducts ongoing standards‑aligned formative assessments of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, and conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
- Uses standardized test scores (STAR) and/or other normed data on student learning to shift practice, if needed, to better serve the learning needs of our student
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings or by conducting research
- Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
- Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees
- Function as a role model by motivating students to maximize their potential while maintaining approachability.
- Attend school events to better understand student interests and personalities outside of the regular classroom, build strong mentoring relationships with students
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Spanish or similar course of study (Master’s Degree).
- California Single Subject Teaching Credential, Spanish (preferred, but not required).
- Master’s Degree or higher in Spanish, Linguistics, World Languages, or a related field (Desired)
- Effective interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and complete them by due dates.
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity towards students from diverse cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with teenagers and their parents.
- Ability to maintain files accurately, on paper and in software programs (aeries, canvas, Google classroom).
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
