Salary Range
: $85,541 – $128,379 annually (salary schedule according to faculty collective bargaining agreement)

Essential FunctionsEssential functions are described below; these are not restrictive, but they provide a clear description of the core duties.
Job Description- Teach lower‑division courses in Chicanx/Latinx Studies, Ethnic Studies, and additional areas of expertise to a diverse student population.
- Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college, and district committees to maintain and improve the instructional program.
- Engage in co‑curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching in special programs designed to support student success.
- Contribute to the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and their assessment cycle.
- Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings.
- Stay current with instructional methods, emerging technologies, and relevant academic literature; apply new tools and approaches to teaching as necessary.
- Complete scheduled classes and related clerical and administrative duties in a timely and organized manner.
- Develop culturally relevant course content and employ culturally responsive pedagogical techniques to engage students who are diverse and/or historically underserved.
- Work cooperatively with staff and students, including evening and/or weekend assignments when required.
- All degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript; no grade cards will be accepted.
- All degrees and coursework must be from accredited postsecondary institutions.
- Evaluations of foreign degrees are required.
- Master’s in African‑American/Black/Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Asian‑American Studies, or Native American/American Indian Studies; OR
- Master’s in Ethnic Studies; OR
- Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; OR
- Equivalent qualifications that include related education, training, employment, and professional experience, as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
- Commitment to diversity, with demonstrated sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Recent experience teaching Chicanx/Latinx Studies and/or Ethnic Studies courses in higher education.
- Degree in Chicana/o Studies.
- Expertise in Chicanx/Latinx history, Jotería studies, Central American studies, Restorative and Transformative Justice praxis, or other related areas.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to effectively teaching and mentoring marginalized students using culturally affirming, liberatory, and community‑centered pedagogies.
- Interest or experience in teaching Ethnic Studies to high school students, including dual enrollment and grades 9–12 courses.
- Knowledge and experience using effective instructional technologies and online pedagogies.
