Ethnic Studies Instructor

Department:
Ethnic Studies & Student Equity, Fullerton College, Fullerton, California.

Employment type:

Full Time, Tenure Track. Salary range: $85,541 - $128,379 annually.

Essential Functions
  • Teach lower division courses in Ethnic Studies to a diverse student population.
  • Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college and district committees.
  • Develop culturally relevant course content and pedagogical techniques to engage historically underserved students.
  • Maintain formal office hours and participate in meetings.
  • Perform related duties as assigned and comply with district policies.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in African-American/Black/Africana Studies, Latino Studies, Chicana/o Studies, or Asian-American Studies; OR Master’s in Ethnic Studies.
  • Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; OR equivalent qualifications may be considered.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and equity-minded practices.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Recent experience teaching Ethnic Studies courses in higher education.
  • Expertise in Critical/Relational Ethnic Studies, Queer Communities of Color, or related areas.
  • Commitment to culturally affirming, liberatory pedagogies.
  • Experience with online teaching modalities and service learning.
