Program Director, High School Expanded Learning & Grants (South LA & San Fernando Valley)
About the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles At the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Every day, our Team Members help strengthen communities by creating spaces where children, teens, adults, and families experience belonging, discover their potential, and build meaningful connections. If you’re ready to bring your high school program leadership and grant management experience to expanding opportunities for teens across South Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

Position Summary Strong high school after school programs start with leadership that understands teens, builds effective teams, and delivers measurable results. As the Program Director, High School Programs, Grant, you’ll oversee six (6) YMCA grant-funded high school program sites across South Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, creating opportunities for students to strengthen academic skills, explore college and career pathways, develop leadership, and experience belonging.

Grant management and attendance performance are central to this role. You’ll lead the implementation, monitoring, and successful delivery of programs supported through Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) and 21st Century Community Learning Centers/After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) funding. You’ll be accountable for meeting grant deliverables, managing budgets, maintaining accurate reporting and audit-ready records, and ensuring each site meets or exceeds its Average Daily Attendance (ADA) targets.

We’re looking for an experienced high school expanded learning leader who knows how to turn student interests into sustained participation and grant requirements into well-run programs. You’ll coach Site Coordinators, strengthen school partnerships, and use attendance data and student feedback to build programs teens choose to attend and return to.

How You’ll Make an Impact Lead ELO-P and 21st Century Community Learning Centers/ASSETs grant management, ensuring programs meet funding requirements, school district expectations, reporting deadlines, and required deliverables.

Drive measurable attendance results at every site. Develop and implement student recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies that meet or exceed ADA targets. Monitor attendance trends, identify gaps early, and lead timely improvements.

Manage grant-funded budgets, staffing allocations, supplies, vendors, and other program expenses while ensuring spending aligns with approved budgets and allowable expenditures.

Maintain accurate enrollment, attendance, fiscal, and program records. Lead preparation for audits, monitoring visits, and compliance reviews, and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Recruit, supervise, coach, and develop Site Coordinators and program staff, building clear expectations for grant performance, teen engagement, safety, and program quality.

Guide student-centered, club-based programming that includes academic support, enrichment, college and career readiness, leadership development, wellness, and recreation. Ensure student voice and choice inform program design.

Build strong relationships with school administrators, district partners, students, families, and community organizations to strengthen recruitment, remove participation barriers, and align programming with each school’s priorities.

Conduct regular site visits and use student feedback, attendance data, and program evaluations to improve quality while maintaining safe, inclusive environments and consistent supervision practices.
