Responsibilities
  • Active participation in recruiting and hiring of Technicians.
  • Supervision and development of the technician workforce.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with forecasting the company’s technician needs and hiring appropriately.
  • Ensure Technician productivity meets or exceeds goals set during reviews or the hiring process.
  • Maintain market conditions to support technicians (quality site surveys, sales, etc.).
  • Handle escalated service issues related to field/technician operations.
  • Develop training plans for assigned Technicians using company training materials.
  • Provide technical support and ensure quality of work for the area.
  • Perform ride‑along with Technicians.
  • Conduct annual Technician reviews with VP approval.
  • Be a positive image and role model for the Technician group.
  • Protect the company’s image, appearance, and reputation.
  • Always model safety and enforce company policies.
  • Maintain local customer relationships for the assigned area with RSMs and Account Managers.
Service Meetings
  • Conduct weekly service meetings.
  • Communicate goals and objectives for the assigned area and give technicians their performance scorecards.
  • Provide recognition to top performers.
  • Inspect all vans during meetings (cleanliness, oil life, fluid levels).
  • Inspect equipment and ensure technicians have proper PPE.
  • Discuss safety topics weekly.
  • Review new customer requirements, callbacks, and additional repairs.
  • Collect feedback from Technicians on scheduling and office issues.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years as an HVAC Service Technician; management experience is a plus.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to provide value to technicians and customers.
  • Commitment to continuous technical education.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to resolve customer concerns locally.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to focus on desired results and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Experience in recruiting and hiring technicians.
  • Physical requirements:

    lift 100 lbs, maneuver a 32‑foot ladder (~96 lbs), lift equipment to roofs, climb ladders multiple times, kneel and squat extensively, and drive extended hours for calls (up to 8‑10 hrs per day).
