Our team-oriented, passionate, and results-driven GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) regional office, which serves Riverside, San Bernardino, and Inyo Counties, is seeking 1 full-time Construction Assistant to support our design, engineering, procurement and installation team to complete residential solar installations.

• Schedule and conduct site visits as delegated, identify feasibility of solar installation, solar access, safety, constructability issues, take measurements, notes and capture images.
• Prepare permit packages for design and pulling permits in various cities and jurisdictions for solar projects.
• Assist in designing solar electric systems based on site visit findings.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
• Scan and file documents; data entry in Excel and our CRM database (); communicate with and answer homeowner, volunteer, sponsor, and partner inquiries.

• Valid state driver's license and clean driving record.
• Strong understudying of OSHA safety requirements.
• Possess a strong work ethic, be a self‑starter, and work well with others and independently.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Inland Empire Region.
• Perform work at various heights, working from ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolding, catwalks, aerial lifts, or other safe working platforms.
• Maintain excellent customer service to homeowners and external parties.
• Excellent communication skills with other departments.
• Enter all site visit data into CRM systems in a timely fashion.
• Support construction operations with other duties as assigned by the construction management (i.e. inspections, warehouse, etc).

• Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
• Solar installation experience.
• Experience or knowledge of the basics of solar energy, energy efficiency or background in renewable energy is helpful but not required.
• Experience working with Salesforce.
• OSHA 10.
• Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.

This position may require 10%-25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band $24-$26 per hour, plus the benefits listed below.
