What will you do?Launch Integration Specialist (LIS) Overview
In general, the Launch Integration Specialist (LIS) provides mission management and integration support to the OSL mission team throughout all phases of planning and execution of satellite-to-launch vehicle integration for OSL-assigned missions. The LIS provides comprehensive end-to-end mission integration planning and coordination, integrated schedule development, range coordination, readiness review preparation, technical procedure coordination, anomaly resolution, integration of mission requirements into government or commercial infrastructure, mission support, MAT Integration Panel support, and lessons learned adjudication.
LISSupport Responsibilities Include
- Developing and maintaining program plans, including performing launch vehicle mission trade studies and mission analysis.
- Developing mission-unique requirements and identifying derived requirements.
- Monitoring and verifying all launch vehicle and satellite vehicle interface requirements, including satellite vehicle processing, transportation, and fueling requirements.
- Possessing an understanding of the satellite vehicle (SV), launch vehicle (LV), and associated contracts to support the full life cycle of launch operations planning and execution.
- Coordinating with the SV Program, Launch Vehicle Contractor (LVC), Operations Location (OL), Range, and other contractors and organizations.
- Familiarity with the scope, capabilities, and coordination of support across various NRO, OSL, and external contracts for SV development, integration and launch, commercial launch services, LSIC, FFRDC, and related contracts requirements.
- Maintaining knowledge of United States Space Force (USSF) National Security Space Launch (NSSL) services, launch vehicle architecture, and components.
- Providing space vehicle to launch vehicle integration, manifesting, and launch expertise.
- Providing launch mission management process continuity across the Launch Enterprise.
- Serving as the launch mission management interface with internal and external divisions, agencies, and contractors.
- Generating reports and presentations for meetings and other internal and external Launch Enterprise reviews.
- Managing the coordination process for planning, requirements, and readiness meetings.
- Reviewing launch mission integration products to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Assisting in development of launch and mission integration requirements in support of OSL CBJB and IPBS development.
- Attending Launch Scheduling/Manifest Meetings as required.
- Supporting each OSL launch campaign by ensuring NOPS, mission IT infrastructure, and services requirements are integrated, documented, and validated.
- Supporting development and updating of mission documentation, ensuring proper identification of enterprise launch communications and service requirements.
- Interfacing with key mission personnel from NRO mission partners, including launch vehicle contractors, satellite contractors, Air Force program offices, NASA, and other mission stakeholders.
- Providing insights on SV issues that may affect LV/SV interfaces, LV hardware, or launch infrastructure.
- Providing modeling and simulation support, including development of technical and programmatic scenarios and data inputs/analysis.
- Updating OSL capabilities baselines, service references, roadshows, and outreach to support SV/LV integration.
- Developing schedules, manifests, and mission models with multiple scenarios, impact assessments, and alternatives.
- Identifying mission integration risks and supporting mitigation activities.
- Providing early mission integration engagement for new and emerging programs (may require special government-granted security access).
- Providing risk assessments of various elements of an OSL launch campaign, including LV/SV readiness and DoL readiness based on performance during exercises.
Position requires a current and active TS/SCI with Poly. Years of experience may be substituted as follows: 5 years = Associates, 10 years = Bachelors, 15 years = Masters.
Level-II Launch Integration Specialist (LIS)The Level-II LIS is an intermediate-level professional with knowledge of space launch systems and processes.
