Job Description

We are hiring a Chief Modeler for our Greater Los Angeles Structural office (Downtown Los Angeles and Irvine, CA). The role spans multiple project types—including civic, institutional, healthcare, residential, and research laboratory structures—and requires both technical Revit expertise and cross‑disciplinary collaboration.

Salary

Pay Range: $111,000 – $130,000 per year, depending on location and experience.

Who You Are

The Chief Modeler will serve as a technical leader across a wide range of projects, overseeing construction documentation, project phases from planning to construction, and cross‑disciplinary coordination. The role requires strong Revit skills, the ability to mentor team members, and collaborate with architects, contractors, and BIM leads.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Serve as primary point of contact for coordination with engineering teams, project architects, contractors, and BIM leads
  • Align deadlines with the Project Engineer and recommend modeling hours to meet schedules
  • Maintain project sets to ensure logical and constructible information flow
  • Oversee critical and complex modeling tasks, ensuring adherence to KPFF standards
  • Distribute work efficiently across the modeling team, including dedicated Pinnacle staff
  • Build and submit new Revit families as needed
  • Support development and maintenance of office standards and technical libraries
  • Provide training and mentorship to BIM staff and assist Tech Leads with standards development
  • Communicate proactively with the Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Principal in Charge throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with the BIM department to maintain organizational standards for drawing production
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines for integrated delivery
  • Offer technical guidance to junior engineers and oversee junior modelers for conformance with design requirements
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven to ten years of full‑time work experience as a modeler in a structural consulting organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience with Revit and BIM workflows
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience developing office standards and technical libraries
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten years of full‑time experience as a modeler in a structural consulting organization
  • Skilled in preparing and overseeing structural drawings
  • Demonstrated coordination and communication across teams
  • Ability to supervise and mentor others with quality control oversight
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills for balancing multiple projects
