Overview
Party Chief/Project Surveyor (Field to Finish) — Based in San Francisco, California or Nevada. Hybrid work (remote or from a Jacobs office). Approximately 50% field work and 50% office work. Travel to sites across the US and globe may be required. You will work on a one- or two-person field crew to perform surveys using GNSS and Robotic Total Station equipment and will process surveys to create survey products such as control surveys, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys.
This position is paid hourly. The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all locations.
Responsibilities- Perform control, boundary, topography, laser scanning and other surveying tasks.
- Perform construction staking.
- Collect survey data using GNSS receivers, scanners, total stations, levels, and survey controllers.
- Produce clear and concise field notes and high-quality field data.
- Communicate with the supervisor and office staff about important project aspects.
- Work outdoors in variable weather conditions and varied terrain.
- Field duties on a one- or two-person crew as described above.
- Office duties including field crew setup, geodetic control network planning/design, control survey processing/adjustment, construction staking preparation and quality checking, feature processing of topographic field data, generating/editing/clean-up of DTMs, title commitment review, public records research, COGO calculations and boundary resolution, and writing property descriptions.
- Obtaining permits and Right of Entry; ensuring all QC plans are followed; assisting PM in estimating surveying tasks; scheduling tasks; collaborating with a multi-discipline team; adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
- Represent Jacobs with professionalism and participate in department and field crew training.
- Experience with surveying data using Civil3D, Micro Station, Open Roads, or similar CAD software.
- Proven ability to complete all technical aspects of a surveying task.
- Good social and communication skills; reputation as a trusted and respected member of the surveying community.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel up to 50% (mostly within California, Nevada, and Arizona).
- Ability to pass drug screen and background checks.
- Ideally, experience with Trimble equipment/software.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an Instrument Operator, Party Chief, Survey Technician, or Project Surveyor.
Base pay range: $62,200.00/yr - $/yr. This range is the minimum to maximum target for new hires and varies by location and other factors related to skills, experience, and education.
