The Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager will have extensive experience leading teams in the development of space‑based and ground‑based mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems. The ideal candidate manages teams delivering these complex systems from concept design through qualification to production. This hands‑on role requires a highly collaborative individual who combines leadership with superb technical skills to guide the engineering team in meeting cross‑disciplinary requirements and customer goals.

• Lead a diverse team of mechanical designers and analysts on projects ranging from space‑based payloads and structures to airborne electronics, antennas, ground‑based mechanisms, electronics, and support equipment.
• Establish and enforce technical standards, guidelines, and checklists to balance rigor with execution velocity.
• Apply mechanical engineering expertise to mentor the team while balancing requirements with reliability, SWAP, and complexity.
• Chair design reviews, risk assessments, and problem resolution throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Be an expert in one or more areas of mechanical design or analysis, thermal design or analysis, or structural dynamics.
• Hire and develop talent to meet ALG’s goals, delivering multiple technical projects in parallel from concept to production.
• Develop and report performance metrics for the mechanical engineering team to peers and executives.
• Interface with engineering managers, product management, and/or program management to drive new product development programs from concept to production.
• Support project and resource planning for individual projects and the engineering organization.

Security Clearance:
The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance of TS/SCI.

The Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager will play a critical role in delivering innovative hardware solutions for our government customers.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years managing hardware engineering teams.
• 8+ years as a lead mechanical engineer (design, structural, thermal, or dynamics).
• Expert in at least one mechanical engineering discipline (Design/Structural/Thermal) and well‑versed in the others.
• Demonstrated expertise in spacecraft structures or electronics packaging applications.

• MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years managing large hardware engineering teams.
• 10+ years as a lead mechanical engineer (design, structural, thermal, dynamics).
• Expert in multiple mechanical engineering disciplines and well‑versed in the others.
