We are looking for a skilled, proactive, independent Utility planner/designer to design telecom relocations for new rail design. This planner/designer must have proven record designing in CAD, Bentley Open Roads software and familiarity with G0 95 and GO 128.
Strong civil engineering and communication skills, problem‑solving, and attention to detail.
Roles and Responsibilities- Develop 60%/90%/100% relocation design for telecom conflicts and obtain utility owner approval.
- Responsible for designing new overhead and underground telecommunications.
- Prepare and provide exhibits as requested for Report of Investigation (ROI).
- Coordinate with main consultant and Utility Owner to complete design items listed above.
- Coordinate with utility companies, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Engineering skills designing new infrastructure. Strong engineering skills are needed to develop effective designs and plans.
- Coordinate with other consultants, agencies to ensure design is according to client’s needs.
- Write design specifics as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with a range of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, utility companies, and local authorities.
- Project management skills: ability to plan, organize, and manage resources, timelines, and budgets.
- Able to solve complex problems tasks, resolving technical issues, addressing regulatory requirements, and managing unexpected changes.
- Strong communication skills are needed to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that expectations are clear.
- Attention to detail is critical to ensure that designs are accurate and compliant.
- Continue up to date on industry standards and regulations in the telecom industry.
- Required: AutoCAD, Bentley Open Roads Software expertise.
- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (PE preferred).
- 2+ years of expertise performing design for telecom/utility relocations.
- 2+ years managing communications with utilities, contractors, consultants and seeking utility approval.
- 2+ years strong expertise with GO95 and GO128.
- 2+ years of experience with rail/utility design.
- Developing 30%/60%/90%/100% relocation design for telecom, electric utility conflicts.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong problem‑solving skills to develop effective solutions and overcome obstacles.
- Experience designing infrastructure layouts, creating schematics, and managing documentation.
