We are seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to lead and deliver complex planning and environmental projects across a range of development, infrastructure and land-use programmes. This role will provide expert advice on environmental planning, assessment, policy and regulatory requirements, helping to shape sustainable outcomes while supporting projects through the planning and approvals process. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, regulators, consultants and community stakeholders to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into project design and delivery.
Key responsibilities will include managing environmental impact assessments, planning applications, feasibility studies and supporting technical reports; interpreting relevant environmental legislation, planning policy and guidance; identifying risks, opportunities and mitigation measures; and preparing clear, evidence-based recommendations for decision-makers. You will coordinate specialist input across areas such as ecology, heritage, landscape, water, climate change, noise and socio-economic impact. The role will also involve reviewing consultant deliverables, managing programmes and budgets, contributing to business development, mentoring colleagues and representing projects at meetings, workshops, inquiries and stakeholder consultations.
Applicants should have substantial experience in environmental planning, environmental assessment or a closely related discipline, together with a relevant degree or professional qualification. A strong understanding of planning and environmental legislation, impact assessment methodologies and sustainability principles is essential. You will be an excellent communicator with proven experience managing complex projects, balancing competing priorities and building constructive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong analytical, report-writing and organisational skills are required, along with sound professional judgement and the ability to work independently. Membership of a relevant professional body, chartered or equivalent status, and experience in leading multidisciplinary teams would be advantageous.
