A growing advanced manufacturing organization is seeking a Process Control Engineer to support plant automation, PLC/SCADA infrastructure, process improvement initiatives, and capital projects.
This is a hands-on engineering position offering exposure across the full controls lifecycle, including PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development, instrumentation, industrial networking, troubleshooting, control strategy development, capital projects, commissioning, and process optimization
. The position will work closely with operations, maintenance, process engineering, utilities, IT, EHS, management, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
- Support, maintain, and improve plant PLC/SCADA and automation systems
. - Program, modify, and troubleshoot Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley PLC systems using RSLogix/Studio 5000.
- Work with ladder logic, function block, and structured text programming.
- Develop and modify HMI/SCADA graphics using Ignition and/or GE iFix
. - Troubleshoot controls and process equipment including instrumentation, actuated valves, motors, remote I/O, communications equipment, network switches, SCADA servers, and operator workstations
. - Support Ethernet-based industrial networks and communications infrastructure.
- Partner with process engineering and operations to develop and improve control schemes and strategies
. - Review and interpret PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, instrumentation wiring diagrams, and other engineering documentation
. - Participate in controls-related capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning, startups, and plant expansions
. - Depending on experience, provide technical oversight for controls aspects of new construction and capital projects.
- Support PI data historian tag configuration, graphical displays, and reporting.
- Identify production bottlenecks, reliability issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Support optimization and tuning of closed-loop control systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and engineering partners as needed.
- Follow established engineering, project management, safety, and document control standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
- 3+ years of process controls, controls engineering, automation, or related industrial experience.
- Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley PLC platforms
. - Experience programming, modifying, or troubleshooting PLC logic.
- Experience working with SCADA/HMI systems
. - Experience troubleshooting controls, instrumentation, or automated process equipment.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, chemical, mining, petroleum, power generation, metals, or other industrial/process environment
