The Financial Reporting Analyst supports the Business Office and LAFS by providing timely financial reporting for the school. The role includes month end reporting, and budget and forecast preparation, so that management can make timely and informed financial decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial statement reporting package utilizing advanced excel macros.
  • Compile, prepare and distribute monthly statistical reports including KPI metrics, trends, analytics, sales conversion rate, headcount analysis and program margin analysis.
  • Assist in the year-end financial audit and insurance and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Review and approve bi-weekly payroll entries for accuracy and completeness.

Budget and Forecast

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly updates of the forecast.
  • Maintain operating budgets, track, investigate and report on variances of actual expense to budget.
  • Distribute quarterly financial operating reports to department heads.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly cash and balance sheet forecast, CAPEX and marketing analytics.
  • Prepare the detailed payroll budget and ongoing payroll forecast updates.
  • Monitor open positions, terminations and headcount activity as it relates to forecast and required ratios.
  • Review of monthly, quarterly and year end reports including headcount, W2 reconciliations and validation, and year end payroll reconciliations for audit.

  • Supporting role in audits, insurance and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Perform these responsibilities with collaboration and the highest professional standards consistent with the vision, mission and strategy of the Los Angeles Film School.

  • Proficient in advanced Excel with the ability to program and maintain pivot tables (works with large amounts of data.) — High degree of computer literacy

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pivot and assist in department where needed.
  • Detail-oriented, attention to details and ability to prioritize projects.

  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in the management of information.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years in financial reporting, budget and analysis, financial reporting software and data automation.
  • Experience in the Education sector preferred.
  • CPA preferred.

Computer

Skills:

  • Highly proficient computer skills including advanced Excel skills (Pivot, VLOOKUP, etc.) and the ability to program in excel.
  • Proficient with standard office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, SharePoint)
  • Great Plains or other mainframe accounting system preferred.
