This is a technical role with strategic financial responsibilities. You are the first hire on what will be a fast growing team focused on optimizing insights on valuations for residential property we’re seeking to acquire. We’re looking for someone to come in, be hands on, while having a career path to grow into a leadership role as the team grows.

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst who is passionate about real estate, and is excited to drive analysis through the use of data when evaluating residential real estate properties to purchase for our portfolio. You will be using SQL heavily to extract, clean and prepare data to analyze on the property, and also analyzing macro economic and other conditions that could impact the valuation of the asset.

You will also have some financial analysis responsibilities, such as modeling financial data and financial reporting about the properties. You don't need robust finance experience, but do need to understand a financial model.

• Report directly to the SVP to execute on strategies to drive better insights into valuations
• Writing complex SQL queries to extract data from internal and external sources
  • You’ll be working with data sources such as our robust internal database, Yardi, One Note, Axiometrics, American Community Survey, US Bureau of Labor Statistics, US Department of Housing and Urban Development, etc.
• Cleansing data to ensure we’re working with accurate data for analysis purposes
• Aggregating, organizing and preparing data to be used for analysis purposes
• Seek to automate data collection processes where applicable
• Maintain accurate information in databases as it relates to the properties we’re evaluating
• Assist with financial modeling and reporting
• Communicate analyses to key stakeholders so that informed key strategic decisions may be made
• Support regional team in achieving goals and assigned tasks

• 4+ years of experience with Data Analysis
• Must have strong experience writing SQL queries
• Must have at least some real estate experience
  • The more the better
  • Ideally analyzing financial data about real estate properties
  • Ideally working for a Private Equity firm or REIT (an equity focused real estate company)
• Must have at least some experience with financial analysis or financial modeling
  • This is much more a technical role than a financial analysis role to clarify, but you need at least some experience on this front
