Role Summary

Wave is seeking a Director, Accounting and Financial Reporting to join its Finance team. This individual will be a critical, core member of the organization, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and deep technical accounting expertise to help scale Wave’s financial operations.

This highly collaborative and detail‑oriented leader will oversee all accounting functions at Wave, including month‑end close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budget‑to‑actual reporting. The Director will play a key role in ensuring the company has timely, accurate, and actionable financial data to support decision‑making across the business. In addition, this role will support financial forecasting, budgeting, and investor reporting, working closely with cross‑functional stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has experience managing end‑to‑end accounting processes and possesses a solid understanding of financial forecasting and reporting within a fast‑paced, growing organization.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the month‑end close process, including consolidating financial statements, reviewing and reconciling the general ledger, and analyzing and explaining variances to projections.
  • Monthly reporting to internal stakeholders on financials, departmental budget to actuals variances, and show and initiative level profit and loss across our key brands.
  • Assist in Annual Audits (Non‑Public).
  • Build out strong internal processes for the Accounting department, spending, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Responsible for recommending Accounting Policy updates on complex Accounting areas.
  • Build relationships across the organization, helping to manage departmental budgets, and facilitate financial transparency across leadership.
  • Assist with Financial forecasting, and annual budgeting processes to drive efficient investment across the organization.
  • Manage the Senior Accountants and oversee the team deliverables.
  • Implement AI solutions to increase efficiency and ensure scalability of the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and internal control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections; knowledge of short and long‑term budgeting and forecasting.
  • Strong organizational skills; well organized and self‑directed with excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with AI tools is preferred.
