Leonid Group is seeking on behalf of a client in the US – an internationally renowned defense company in aerospace and defense. Following a recent strategic acquisition, the business is appointing a Controller to oversee and grow the finance function for the newly acquired entity.

This is a senior finance leadership position, reporting into corporate leadership, and will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, disbursements, and receivables teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading monthly close and reporting cycles, and providing real-time insights to leadership dashboards.
• Full leadership of the accounting, disbursement, and A/R functions for the acquired entity.
• Preparing and analyzing financial information, general ledger activity, and business transactions.
• Administering and ensuring compliance with timekeeping and payroll systems, particularly aligned to DCAA standards.
• Assisting in the preparation of internal financial statements and external reporting for both internal and regulatory stakeholders.
• Overseeing internal controls, including annual reviews and continuous improvement of financial procedures.
• Supporting tax reporting, labor distribution, and financial reconciliations.
• Handling Department of Defense (DoD) / DCAA reporting and ensuring compliance.
• Acting as SAP subject matter expert within the finance function.
• Initiating payments including ACH, wires, and checks.
• Supporting accounts receivable processes and coordinating closely with the sales and supply chain teams.
• Driving cost control and variance reduction in partnership with procurement and operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting or controller-level role.
• Strong background in US GAAP and experience with IAS/IFRS reporting structures.
• Hands-on experience in a federal contracting environment (DoD/ITAR/DCAA).
• Advanced knowledge of DCAA cost accounting standards and procedures.
• Proficient in SAP (FI/CO modules) and Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience working in a mid-sized to large organization, ideally within defense, aerospace, or related sectors.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently with a proactive and solution-driven mindset.
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (due to regulatory compliance requirements).

• Minimal travel expected; occasional overnight or off-site visits may be required.
