Position SummaryThe Senior Vice President, HY Trading and Portfolio Management will work as part of TCW’s integrated credit team performing the portfolio management and trading functions for the firm’s high yield bond strategies. This includes TCW’s high yield bond funds and separately managed accounts, as well as the allocation to high yield credit within our multi-sector fixed income portfolios. We employ a value investing philosophy and construct portfolios from the “bottom‑up,” credit-by-credit.
Our investment process is highly collaborative among portfolio managers, traders and research analysts, collectively forming our Investment Committee. A successful candidate knows how to operate and lead within a team‑based culture. Highly professional and polished communication skills are paramount, both written and verbal, as the candidate will be called to present investment recommendations and deliver frequent updates on TCW’s high yield portfolios and the high yield bond market eover, the candidate will provide support for maintaining and improving the tools used for the allocation and management of high yield positions.
Duties
- Perform day‑to‑day portfolio management and trading for high yield bond funds, separately managed accounts and high yield credit allocations from broader fixed income strategies.
- Support trade execution and manage the high yield trading process.
- Maintain and improve tools used for allocation and management of high yield positions.
- Provide frequent written and verbal updates to senior leadership on high yield portfolio positioning and high yield market opportunities.
- Minimum eight years of experience in the securities industry.
- Minimum three years spent investing in high yield credit in a portfolio management, research analyst or trading capacity.
- Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable university or college with strong academic performance and relevant coursework.
- Excellent math/finance and strong computer skills, particularly MS Excel.
- Proficiency with Bloomberg.
- Diligent, hard‑working, responsible, willing to work both in a team setting and independently, and proven these characteristics.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi‑task in a trade‑room atmosphere.
- Entrepreneurial attitude; creativity to search out investment opportunities.
- Prior experience in high yield portfolio management.
This role requires candidates to work from a TCW office a minimum of five days a week.
Estimated CompensationBase Salary
:
For CA based position, the base salary range is $200k‑$250k – an anticipated range only.
Other Compensation
:
Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus.
