Senior FOIA Analyst – Join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This position allows candidates to demonstrate expertise in processing FOIA requests, creating FOIA correspondence, and communicating negotiations, among other relevant tasks.

PayBase pay range: $84,177.60/yr – $/yr. (Actual pay will be based on skills and experience – talk with your recruiter.)
Responsibilities- Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests
- Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request folders
- Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database
- Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence
- Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors (or regulated industry representatives), and contractors concerning records requested and information to be released
- Serve as a liaison with requesters and, on rare occasions, other agencies and appellants regarding records that may involve more than one agency component/office
- Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicate records
- Review program records for responsiveness and offer release determinations
- Ensure released materials do not contain information exempted under applicable exemptions
- Three (3) years of experience processing FOIA requests
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations; specifically applying exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6)
- Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential commercial information
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to obtain a government security clearance
- Prior federal government experience
- Experience with FOIA tools such as FOIA EXPRESS
- Experience using Secure Release
- Active security clearance (preferred)
