Disaster Services Analyst

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking a highly qualified individual to conduct investigations, analyses, and special studies of complex problems in disaster/emergency preparedness.

The successful candidate will participate in planning disaster/emergency preparedness projects and functions, analyze and interpret State and Federal regulations, and advise County officials on compliance. They will also travel to attend meetings, conferences, trainings, or exercises, and supervise County employees providing disaster/emergency services as required.

• Conduct investigations, analyses, and special studies of complex problems in disaster/emergency preparedness.
• Participate in planning disaster/emergency preparedness projects and functions.
• Analyze and interpret State and Federal regulations pertaining to disaster/emergency activities.
• Advise County officials regarding compliance with regulations.
• Travel to attend meetings, conferences, trainings, or exercises.
• Supervise County employees providing disaster/emergency services as required.

• Four years of experience in a responsible administrative or staff capacity dealing with the investigation and solution of problems of organization, management, or coordination of governmental disaster or emergency services programs.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.

• Additional experience in excess of the Selection Requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Emergency Management or Homeland Security.
• Experience in a healthcare, public health, or emergency medical services provider setting.
• Certificate of completion for specific courses, such as Homeland Security Exercises and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) Training Course.
