Director Health Information Management
PACIFICA HOSPITAL OF THELEY
Pay RangeBase pay: $95,000 - $125,000 per year. This range is provided by PACIFICA HOSPITAL OF THE VALLEY. Actual pay will be based on experience.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership, direction, and administration for Health Information Management (Medical Records) and transcriptions, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as liaison between Administration and the medical staff to ensure high quality medical care as reflected through medical record documentation.
- Oversee clinical documentation, abstracting, transcription, ROI, record analysis, completion, retention, storage & destruction, document imaging, data quality monitoring, privacy, compliance, and accreditation readiness.
- Develop strategy, goals, objectives, budgets, and performance standards for HIM operations.
- Work with IT to ensure EMR and related systems are accessible and aligned with organizational needs.
- Act as Hospital’s HIPAA Compliance Officer.
- Maintain CDI program integration, collaborating with finance and medical staff.
- Manage departmental operations and staff, including record analysis, reconciliation, release of information, and hardcopy retrieval.
- Approve HIM policies and procedures before implementation.
- Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies, federal and state regulations, and professional organization standards; maintain quality control programs.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of record completion, coding, DRG validation, and regulatory reporting.
- Ensure compliance with medico‑legal aspects of Health Information Management.
- RHIT or RHIA certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of HIM experience in an acute healthcare facility.
- Above average knowledge of EMR.
- Working knowledge of ICD coding, preferably ICD‑10.
- Demonstrated management, administrative, scheduling, planning, and budgeting skills.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and accrediting agency (TJC preferred) HIM regulations;
Title 22 and HCAI. - Understanding of CMS auditing processes including RAC, ADR, CERT, CDAC, and Pepper.
- Knowledge of acute and subacute EMR requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills.
