Medical Receptionist – Full‑Time – East Compton Clinic
This role is located at East Compton Clinic. The pay range is $21.00/hr – $29.00/hr and is based on skills and experience.

The Medical Receptionist’s primary responsibilities include greeting patients, managing check‑in and check‑out processes, maintaining the wait room, answering phones, scheduling appointments for a high volume medical office, and ensuring timely patient flow with the back‑office staff. The position reports to the Site Administrator with a dotted line to the Revenue Cycle Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Warmly greet all patients and visitors and provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist patients in signing in upon arrival.
- Register patients: validate and collect required signatures, documents, and enter the information into the office EM system, ensuring accurate collection of:
- Primary Care office/provider
- Patient contact phone, email, and home/mailing address
- Insurance information
- Verification of insurance eligibility or self‑pay costs when applicable
- Appropriate payer assignment by visit type
- Validation of patient to insurance relationship using Photo Insurance Card
- Signed consents to treat, assignment of benefits, Notice of Privacy Practice, and demographic information
- Collection of patient responsible amounts including co‑payments and self‑pay payments
- Follow best practices for registration, check‑in, and check‑out, and participate in self‑monitoring/auditing.
- Answer front‑desk telephone calls, obtain necessary information, and route calls efficiently.
- Maintain daily coverage of front‑desk operations, including Care Phone assignments.
- Schedule patients as needed from various queues, including rescheduling displaced patients and calling ED post‑discharge patients.
- Provide information about the organization, including address and directions.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining supplies.
- Occupy a role that optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization, while adhering to scheduling guidelines.
- Keep appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient arrivals and managing delays.
- Create a positive patient experience by anticipating anxieties and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Maintain patient records and inventory, and forward large files to HIM when needed.
- Assist patients in distress and respond to emergencies following protocols.
- Protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy standards.
- Report necessary changes and contribute to team efforts as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education
:
High School graduate or GED. - Qualifications/Experience
:- At least one (1) year in a medical front office setting or similar.
- At least one (1) year handling insurance eligibility/verification.
- Medical Assistant front office experience preferred.
- Special Skills/Knowledge
:- Maintain a professional, patient‑care oriented attitude.
- Multi‑task effectively.
- Fluent Spanish preferred.
- Excellent customer service, telephone, time‑management, and organizational skills.
