Overview
Postdoctoral Scholar – Department of Neurology, University of California, Los Angeles. The Post-doctoral fellow will perform independent research in mechanisms of motor recovery after stroke in humans. This work will examine how measures of neural injury and neural function relate to motor deficits early after stroke and their recovery over time, in the context of a phase II clinical trial examining arm-focused telerehabilitation and a dopaminergic drug.
The goals are to identify brain states that are most likely to benefit from therapy.
- Collect brain MRI data from trial enrollees
- Perform structural and functional analyses of brain MRI
- Collaborate with Dr. David Shattuck to apply a range of MRI analysis tools to address study aims
- Become familiar with clinical trial procedures
- Contribute to the analysis of behavioral data collected in the trial
- Summarize and present findings for in-person or virtual discussions
- Lead or assist in the development of manuscripts
- Lead or assist in the development of additional extramural funding
- Complete research as necessary to publish papers
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience or equivalent
- Background in human research, especially related to stroke or other neurological disease, preferred
- Collaborative, able to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of experience in working with human patients having neurological disease
- Experience collecting and analyzing data from patients with neurological disease
- Skill in writing manuscripts
