Overview

Purpose Statement/

Position Summary:

The Clinical Lab Scientist II performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment. Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff. May provide instruction in the basic theory, technical skills and applications of laboratory test procedures. Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for Technicians.

The CLS II functions as a licensed staff member performing duties approved by California Business and Professions Code, CLIA and other regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications /Work Experience

2 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 1 year in the area of specialty required. ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty preferred.

Education / Licensure / Certifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements.
  • Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
  • Or acceptable Limited California Licenses in specialty areas:
    • Clinical Chemist Scientist License
    • Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License
    • Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License
    • Clinical Hematologist Scientist License
    • Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License
    • Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License
    • Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License
Pay Scale Information

USD $99,008.00 - USD $.

CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.

Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. We provide a competitive compensation package that recognizes your experience, credentials, and education alongside a robust benefits program to meet your needs.
