Republic has 90 Linux servers, all custom built with unique configurations. Unlike larger environments where a Linux admin can manage hundreds or thousands of servers using automation tools, our environment requires a different approach due to the custom nature of each server.
We are seeking a Linux professional with the skills to work with individual servers one at a time, utilizing in-depth command line expertise to make precise adjustments.
Job DescriptionSystem administrator to join our Infrastructure team. This position is 75% Linux administration and 25% Windows administration.
We are recruiting for a Red Hat Linux Administrator with 6 or more years of experience, who is well-rounded in other aspects of Infrastructure such as backups and VMware.
The role involves serving as a high-level escalation point for issues, and requires a self-starter with initiative to run projects and provide insights, ideas, and solutions.
Our environment is 98% virtualized with VMware ESXi 6.0. The company culture is very friendly, with long tenures on the team and at Republic.
QualificationsQualifications:
We are seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator with VMware experience in a highly virtualized environment. The candidate should have expert knowledge in the following areas and be able to work effectively with a small, established team:
- Red Hat RHEL
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2012
- Active Directory
- VMware ESXi 6.0
- Scripting experience
- Knowledge of Apache, Websphere, and Tomcat
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Backup experience is a plus
- Storage experience is a plus
- Team fit is essential
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Experience: 6 or more years of related experience.
