Position Summary

The IT Infrastructure Manager leads a team of 12 and owns the design, security, and day‑to‑day operations of a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning on‑prem systems and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is hands‑on and operationally focused, with strong expectations in Linux administration, networking, and automation/scripting to improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and strengthen security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers/administrators; set priorities, manage workload, and build a strong on‑call/incident response culture.
  • Establish operational standards (runbooks, escalation paths, change management, problem management, capacity planning).
  • Drive cross‑functional coordination with Security, Engineering, Helpdesk, and business stakeholders.
  • Own architecture and operations across hybrid environments (data center/on‑prem + GCP), including connectivity, identity, and shared services.
  • Manage GCP foundations: org/projects, IAM, VPCs, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Logging/Monitoring, and cost controls.
  • Plan and execute cloud migrations and modernization initiatives while maintaining stability and minimizing downtime.
  • Oversee Linux fleet administration and hardening (patching, vulnerability remediation, performance tuning, configuration standards).
  • Implement observability: monitoring, alerting, dashboards, SLIs/SLOs; ensure proactive detection and fast recovery.
  • Own core networking strategy and operations: LAN/WAN, routing/switching, DNS/DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and segmentation.
  • Ensure secure and resilient on‑prem ↔ cloud connectivity (e.g., site‑to‑site VPNs, interconnect patterns as applicable).
  • Partner with vendors/ISPs to manage circuits, performance, and escalations.
  • Drive automation through scripting/coding (e.g., Bash/Python) to standardize builds, reduce repetitive work, and improve reliability.
  • Promote Infrastructure as Code and configuration management practices (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and version‑controlled change workflows.
  • Enforce least‑privilege access, secrets/key management, audit logging, and system hardening across cloud and on‑prem.
  • Own backup strategy and disaster recovery planning; run periodic recovery tests and document results.
  • Lead incident RCA and implement preventative actions to reduce recurrence.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in infrastructure/IT operations with hybrid environments, including 3+ years managing teams (experience leading 8–15 person teams preferred).
  • Strong hands‑on Linux administration experience (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS), including troubleshooting and security hardening.
  • Strong hands‑on networking experience (DNS, DHCP, TLS, VPN, firewalls, routing, switching, segmentation, load balancing).
  • Working experience in Google Cloud Platform (IAM, VPC, Compute, Storage, logging/monitoring).
  • Scripting/coding experience (Bash and/or Python) used for automation and operational tooling.
  • Demonstrated incident management experience (on‑call, escalation, RCA, measurable reliability improvements).
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Pay Rate
  • The total compensation for this role is $160,000 to $185,000.
  • The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
