Position

Summary

We’re seeking a seasoned Technical Sales Engineer with approximately 10 years of experience in IT and IT Security technical engineering. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in client‑facing environments, understands enterprise architecture, and is passionate about emerging technologies—especially AI, cloud, and security. The goal of this role is to identify opportunities, craft tailored solutions, and sell Bird Rock Systems’ full suite of professional services and partner technologies.

As

a Technical Sales Engineer, You Will
  • Help customers understand ways to improve their business using AI as an enhancement layer across our core offerings.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities for our professional services, including:
    • Team as a Service
    • Staff augmentation
    • Remote Help Desk as a Service
    • Health checks and optimization assessments (Security, Network, Cloud, AI)
    • Solution deployments and migrations
    • Disaster recovery and cloud readiness assessments
    • Sell and support solutions from top‑tier partners such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft, Crowd Strike, Rapid7, Veeam, Dell, and others.
  • Lead proof‑of‑concept projects and present business value analyses.
  • Collaborate with account managers on strategy, pre‑meeting planning, and post‑meeting debriefs.
Location
  • Orange County / Los Angeles
  • Must be willing to travel by car to customer sites across Orange County and Los Angeles as requested by the sales team.
  • Can be called into our San Diego office at manager's discretion.
Main Duties
  • Conduct technical discovery and solution alignment.
  • Present and demo AI‑enabled and partner solutions.
  • Create bill‑of‑materials and statements of work.
  • Lead evaluations and proof‑of‑concepts.
  • Deliver cost‑benefit analyses and ROI models.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into actionable client recommendations.
  • Participate in pre‑sales to post‑sales handoffs.
  • Stay current on industry trends, compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOX, GDPR, CCPA), and emerging threats.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pre‑sales, technical sales, or sales. Proven ability to identify customer IT needs and challenges and translate them into effective, solution‑driven recommendations.
  • ~10 years in technical engineering in IT and IT Security.
  • Proven success selling professional services and enterprise solutions.
Certifications
  • Technical certifications from Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft, Crowd Strike, Rapid7, etc.
  • AI/data analytics certifications (e.g., Microsoft AI Fundamentals, Google Cloud AI).
Key Skills
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture and security frameworks.
