Location

Open to U.S. based remote candidates. Candidates based in the Los Angeles area will have the opportunity to work from our beautiful Santa Monica, CA office.

Role Summary

The Summer Law Clerk will support One Team’s Business & Legal Affairs team across a broad range of commercial, licensing, content, marketing, event, and athlete-related matters. This role provides hands‑on exposure to real transactions and legal issues in sports, entertainment, and media, with responsibilities spanning contract drafting and review, legal research, deal support, and process improvement.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Drafting, reviewing and assisting in the negotiation of a variety of contracts across the One Team business such as:
    • retail, consumer product, and promotional licenses
    • sponsorship, brand partnership and athlete relations
    • content production, broadcast and distribution, digital media, television and online programming
    • event‑related (e.g., venue, hotel, event management, agency, talent) agreements
    • confidentiality, consent, release agreements and related form agreements
    • terms of use and privacy policies
  • Supporting licensing, marketing, gaming/interactive, content, and strategic initiatives by partnering closely with attorneys and business partners to advance deals from intake through execution
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on issues related to intellectual property, name, image, and likeness (NIL), media, gaming, marketing, privacy, and emerging issues in sports and entertainment
  • Preparing clear, practical summaries and analyses of agreements
  • Assisting with diligence, background research, and benchmarking of industry practices, deal terms, and market trends across sports, media, and entertainment
  • Tracking current litigations, legislation, and regulatory developments impacting One Team business, athlete rights, and the broader sports and media ecosystem
  • Assisting with the maintenance and organization of legal templates, forms, and internal resources, including updates to the forms database
  • Supporting internal process improvement initiatives, including deal tracking and knowledge management
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Key Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as 1st or 2nd year law student in good academic standing at an ABA‑accredited law school
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective legal research, writing and analytical skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and public speaking skills
  • Adaptability, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
  • Strong time management and organizational qualifications, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and strong personal ethics
