Safework’s Healthcare Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing multiple healthcare construction and renovation projects under a unified capital improvement program across one or more facilities or healthcare systems in California. This role provides strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with HCAI (formerly OSHPD) regulations and healthcare standards.
Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, the Program Manager develops program‑level strategies, aligns resources, and manages stakeholder relationships to deliver projects that enhance operational efficiency, patient experience, and long‑term facility value.
Position Description- Oversee the planning, design, and construction of multiple healthcare projects under a defined capital program or master plan.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the client, project managers, consultants, and contractors.
- Develop and manage program budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans across multiple projects.
- Ensure compliance with California Building Code, Title 24, and HCAI/OSHPD requirements for all applicable projects.
- Provide executive‑level reporting, dashboards, and project performance updates to client leadership.
- Support the development of strategic capital plans, feasibility studies, and project prioritization frameworks.
- Lead project teams in identifying and mitigating risk across program portfolios.
- Manage consultant and contractor selection, RFP/RFQ processes, and contract negotiations.
- Implement standardized procedures, project controls, and reporting structures to ensure consistency across all projects.
- Promote strong communication and collaboration among project teams, hospital departments, and regulatory agencies.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the program.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. - Experience:
Minimum 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in capital project delivery, with at least 5 years managing healthcare projects or programs in California. - Proven experience leading multiple concurrent projects exceeding $20M+ in total program value preferred.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
Deep understanding of HCAI/OSHPD processes, healthcare construction standards, and California Building Code (Title 24). - Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams, manage consultants, and interface with executive‑level healthcare leadership. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and program‑level reporting tools (Power BI, Excel, etc.). - Communication:
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to communicate complex information clearly to executives and technical teams alike.
