Position Overview
Steer North America is an independent consultancy focused on rail and transit. We clients unlock the full potential of their transportation systems through insight, analysis and independent advice.
Key Responsibilities- Drive growth of the Rail & Transit practice in alignment with broader business objectives.
- Act as a technical and thought leader both internally and externally.
- Collaborate with internal leadership to implement strategic planning, sales and marketing initiatives.
- Serve as Project Director or Technical Director on major and strategic projects, overseeing all phases of delivery and ensuring adherence to scope, schedule and budget.
- Build, maintain and expand long‑term relationships with key clients, partners and industry stakeholders.
- Lead business development efforts, including proposal development, presentations and negotiations.
- Stay informed about market trends to create differentiated technical solutions that respond to client needs.
- Represent Steer externally, promoting its values and capabilities in the marketplace.
- Provide leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative, innovative and high‑performing work environment.
- Mentor and guide staff, focusing on career development, performance management and succession planning.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the transportation industry with an emphasis on rail and transit.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated success in business development, client engagement and project leadership for rail and transit clients.
- Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and manage high‑profile rail and transit projects.
- Technical background in relevant areas (forecasting, business/strategic case development, operations planning, procurement support, funding/financing, project development).

Up to 44 paid days off – 20 vacation days, 9 public holidays, 3 floating days, 10 sick days and 2 volunteering days – as well as a semi‑annual performance review process.
For Canadian applicants, we offer a competitive package including private medical, dental and vision insurance, a group Share Incentive Plan, a 3% RRSP contribution and a discretionary yearly bonus based on annual compensation (dependent upon individual and company performance). Up to 47 paid days off – 22 vacation days, 13 public holidays, 2 volunteering days and 10 sick days – as well as a bi‑annual performance review process.

Salary Range – $180,000 – 280,000 w/ benefits
