Position: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor

The EHS Supervisor plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive safety, health and environmental support to site personnel. This role involves developing and implementing robust safety and health programs, supervising one employee, while also overseeing the coordination of effective safety training programs. In addition, the EHS Supervisor diligently monitors safety and health regulations, ensuring that plant and office personnel receive the necessary technical support to maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.

COMPENSATION

$85,000 - $95,000/Year DOE, Bonus Eligible

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works closely with staff in maintenance, quality, human resources, and operations to ensure compliance with OSHA and Environmental regulations.
  • Provides technical safety, health and environmental support and information to site personnel.
  • Develops, prepares, and updates written safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Supervisor and mentor 1 EHS Technician.
  • Develops and coordinates EHS training and annual plan.
  • Trains new & existing employees in safety procedures.
  • Designs methods for appraising safety conditions at assigned locations.
  • Inspects working conditions to ensure all activities are compliant with EHS requirements.
  • Develops annual site plan for supporting company EHS goals.
  • Manage change from an EHS perspective related to new products, process, and equipment.
  • Supports site personnel in the selection & appropriation of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Promotes safety and health awareness through internal communications and specific training programs and incentives.
  • Leads implementation of site specific EHS programs.
  • Responsible for submitting EHS regulatory reports (HMBP, OSHA, SMRs, Manifest, etc.).
  • Reviews SOPs and provides input for EHS considerations.
  • Understands federal, state and local occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Identifies opportunities, creates project proposals, collaborates with subcontractors, and executes projects with the support and cooperation of management.
  • Audits practices and records of site to ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, local occupational safety, health and environmental regulations.
  • Monitors & reports recordable injuries and other serious EHS incidents.
  • Oversees and provides guidance to site personnel, ensuring that they effectively execute incidents investigations while also ensuring the completion of reports.
  • Conducts weekly reviews of EHS KPIs with operations, ensuring thorough analysis and assessment of metrics.
  • Reviews injury/illness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
  • Actively contributes to the development of leadership and safety practices.
  • Actively collaborates during orientation for new hires, providing valuable insights and guidance regarding safety and health practices.
  • Develops and tracks Key Safety Indicators and develops improvement plans against them.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Science, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in the health and safety field is required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • OSHA
    30-hour certification preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred with Spanish speaking and writing proficiency.
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of state and federal safety guidelines for the workplace.
