Amca is building airplanes for the 21st century, starting by designing new hardware that flies on today’s planes. Aviation was once humanity’s boldest ambition, but the industry hasn’t successfully built a new plane in 40 years. We don’t think it has to be this way.
OverviewYou will work with tool makers and engineering teams to run prototype parts, develop tools, program prototype CNC machining operations, and roll out short run production parts to rapidly convert design ideas into prototypes.
Responsibilities- Use in-depth familiarity of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to machine tools, molds, and initial prototype parts based on desired final part geometries
- CNC Milling, Turning and Mill‑Turn equipment programming and editing
- Creatively machine, fabricate and assemble plastic injection molds, prototype aerospace parts, short‑run machined parts, tooling, and fixturing
- Perform manual milling, turning, grinding
- Go from rough engineering concept sketches to completed prototype parts, tools and fixtures as quickly as possible
- Provide and ensure adherence to tool and part Design for Manufacturability feedback
- Apply creative solutions to perform spur of the moment design and machining adjustments to achieve desired part outcomes in a fast‑moving environment
- Assist with machine selection, initial machine setup and commissioning, and routine maintenance
- 5+ years of experience in machining, with a focus on aerospace or high‑precision components. (Preference for 5‑axis experience)
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Hyper Mill, Esprit) and 3D CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works, Siemens NX, Catia)
- Deep understanding of G‑code, M‑code, and CNC programming and editing
- Ability to learn and use a variety of software to observe, analyze, evaluate, and communicate pertinent information
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and tolerance stack‑ups
