Automation Engineer – Bio Space – Los Angeles, CA
Join Bio Space as an Automation Engineer to partner with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot automated control processes, implement continuous flow improvements, and drive operational excellence on weekend shifts.
Responsibilities- Perform user interventions to maintain continuous manufacturing flow and implement sustainable systems to reduce UI occurrence.
- Create and update manufacturing SOPs to align with current process steps, periodically audit SOPs, and revise them to maintain a rigid connection between control system actions and manual operations.
- Resolve automation system and manufacturing equipment issues that result in production delays, coordinate and contact support groups for assistance, including Delta
V, EBM, PLC, E , BAS, process, equipment, and instrumentation. - Participate in the execution of Project Record ownership, Delta
V/EBM/PLC/BAS configuration changes, functional tests, commissioning plans, and qualification protocols. - Learn EBM and Delta
V control systems and assist the team in daily manufacturing operations, troubleshooting, and change recommendations. - Lead and close small process improvement projects related to Delta
V/EBM/PLC/BAS, manufacturing process, manufacturing equipment, and operator interaction with the automation system. - Train manufacturing operators on the interaction between manufacturing process and automation.
- Own and close corrective actions related to the automation system, including corrective action & preventative action (CAPA) generated due to user interventions and non-conformances/events.
- B.S. in Engineering (preferably Computer Science, Electrical, Chemical, or Biochemical); some related experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication to discuss normally encountered technical issues.
- Collaborative team member who elevates issues when needed.
- Problem‑solving routine design, process, and engineering problems with assistance.
- Availability to work weekend shift and holidays required to accommodate business needs.
- Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and protective clothing over head, face, hands, feet, and body, including additional hearing protection for loud areas.
- Remove all make‑up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, wet environment.
- Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours as necessary.
- Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers, and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
- May be required to work in a confined area.
- Some clean room and cool/hot storage conditions.
- Required to spend 50% of work time in the manufacturing operations area.
U.S. base salary range: $56,000 – $88,000. Short‑term and long‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, well‑being benefits. U.S. employees may accrue up to 80 hours of sick time and 120 hours of paid vacation.
