Job Description & How to Apply Below

To fight for the health of the region’s waterways, and for sustainable, equitable and climate-friendly water supplies. We envision the Los Angeles region as an international leader on integrated, sustainable and equitable water management; a region that is water self-sufficient, and where all waterways throughout the county are safe, healthy and accessible to the public.

Creeks 2 Coast Cleanup Challenge

Los Angeles County is expansive, with a beautiful mix of beaches, bays, parks, and open spaces throughout its 4,751 sq miles. Despite their ecological and community importance, litter continues to create adverse impacts. Join the Creeks 2 Coast Challenge (C2C Challenge) and help make a difference in our greater Los Angeles community!

The C2C Challenge is a decentralized cleanup program. Participants can engage in cleanups from a distance without sacrificing impact or scientific integrity. Participants select FOUR sites from categories of their choice, which include Coastal, River & Creeks, Metropolitan Parks, and Trails. You’ll have a year to complete six cleanups and become a Cleanup Champion!

Join our River Assessment Field Team (RAFT) to clean up and collect data that inform future LA River Restoration decisions.

RAFT is our community science program where volunteers explore the LA River, learn about its history, and address challenges it faces. Volunteers collect scientific data through water sampling, measure biodiversity with iNaturalist, and document plastic and waste using Litterati.

The RAFT program is essential for gathering data on waterways and making scientific information accessible to the community.

How you can help

We rely on volunteers across LA County to protect Marine Protected Areas, combat stormwater and plastic pollution, and monitor the health of rivers and creeks.

About us

For over three decades, Los Angeles Waterkeeper (LA Waterkeeper) has served as LA’s water watchdog, safeguarding inland and coastal waters through law, science, and community action. We work to eliminate pollution, promote ecosystem health, and secure a resilient, low-carbon water supply for the region.

Our advocacy efforts support over $20 billion in water infrastructure investments in the next two decades. We aim to ensure these investments promote ecological health, community safety, and sustainable water management, including stormwater capture, wastewater recycling, groundwater cleanup, and river restoration.
