USGBC-CA Climate Resilience Coordinator

This position supports the U.S. Green Building Council California (USGBC-CA’s) efforts in building California’s resilience muscle, from local communities to statewide engagement. As our Climate Resilience Coordinator, you will elevate our efforts to bring resilience education and training to those who can make the most impact, drive community engagement and workshops on a local level, and help design and deliver programming to transition us to a more resilient future, all while collaborating with partners across our robust and diverse nonprofit ecosystem.

This position is slated to begin in March 2026, and will be an integral part of our USGBC-CA team reporting to our Director, Workforce Development and Training.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who works collaboratively internally and externally, to advocate for change through the lens of green building practices. They are eager to dive into the research, develop the relationships needed to promote and implement our climate resilience goals, and support our mission for a healthier environment for all.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Development & Implementation
  • Coordinate the delivery of our organization’s regional resilience programs, focusing on wildfire preparedness, extreme heat mitigation, and water conservation.
  • Develop and manage technical resources, toolkits, and "best practice" guides to help building owners and managers implement resilient infrastructure.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for grant-funded initiatives, ensuring project milestones are met on schedule.
  • Collaborate with Policy and Advocacy team members to stay informed of Regional Climate Adaptation Plans and plans of action or policy at the local, state, and/or federal level.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops and training sessions for diverse stakeholders, including architects, developers, policymakers, and community-based organizations.
  • Perform outreach to relevant stakeholders, engaging them in our trainings and workshops.
  • Work with the Marketing team to effectively communicate with staff and the USGBC-CA member community about the organization’s resilience efforts.
  • Manage a database of resilience professionals and partner organizations to foster a robust ecosystem for climate-ready construction in California.
  • Coordinate with volunteers, interns, and members as needed for outreach efforts.
  • Provide support and perform project management tasks for additional training and workforce development initiatives as needed, depending on organizational priorities.
SKILLS NEEDED:
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the built environment, real estate, or wildfire prevention ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with the terms and organizations engaged in climate resilience policies and California-specific climate challenges.
  • Experience working in supportive collaboration with communities and diverse groups.
  • Google Workspace, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, CANVA, or similar programs required; experience with task management platforms such as Monday, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to create presentations and documents with a high degree of polish.
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of project management and community engagement.
  • Experience supporting project tasks, scheduling meetings, and maintaining a professional demeanor in stakeholder meetings.
  • Possesses a collaborative spirit, with the ability to contribute to annual strategic planning, work closely with other departments across the organization, and work creatively toward goals.
  • Desire to learn, adapt, and explore new skills, technology, and workflow processes.
  • Ability to flex schedule to support programmatic activities, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
A bonus if you also have:
  • Flexibility to exist in a fast-paced, generative professional environment with multiple assignments.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language.
TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, hybrid position.

Location:

greater Los Angeles region. Annual salary range is $65,000-$75,000.
