Officer, Resource Development - Major Gifts

Summary

The Major Gifts Officer will support fundraising, stewardship and administrative activities across the Resource Development Department, specifically within the Major Gifts team. The role includes collaborating with portfolio managers on data generation and report creation to inform cultivation and solicitation strategies, managing communication with unassigned mid-major level donors, researching and assigning new and existing donors, and providing key support functions for the philanthropy team.

In addition, the officer will assist in planning and executing International Medical Corps’ fundraising, cultivation/stewardship, and corporate events, while managing a personal donor portfolio in the $1,000 to $5,000 range to support the department’s yearly goals.

• Support portfolio managers in developing and implementing strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for prospective major donors.
• Research new mid- and major-level donors, preparing briefings and reports for portfolio managers.
• Prepare reports and briefings for external prospect and donor meetings as well as internal strategy sessions.
• Lead knowledge management processes, ensuring database usage, metric tracking, and compliance with team protocols.
• Collaborate with Development Operations to prepare regular financial reports, enabling robust analysis of progress toward goals.
• Assist with philanthropy events, participating in planning, logistics, and delivery.
• Lead personalized acknowledgment for incoming gifts of $500 or more, ensuring continued communication throughout the year.
• Support outreach and solicitation efforts to help meet fundraising goals and increase event attendance and funds raised.
• Act as point person across departments (Finance, Logistics, HR) to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Lead research and outreach for a mid- to major-gift portfolio, maximizing donor engagement and yearly fundraising goals.
• Serve as an active development team member responsible for specific revenue goals and oversight.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in event management or public relations.
• Demonstrated success in event execution.
• Superior written and oral communication skills and keen attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related applications.
• Excellent interpersonal and time‑management skills.
• Experience in event production, staff management, public relations, or donor services.
• Ability to work independently and with diverse staff on complex assignments.
• Flexibility to adjust priorities as workload demands.
• Exceptional proofreading skills.
• Experience with donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation.
• Some success with fundraising from individuals and/or corporations.
• Knowledge of and connection to the Los Angeles fundraising community.

Low $60,000 to high $60,000 per year.
